S-20 Series: High Intensity in a Very Compact Package
- High intensity 20mm Spot Illuminator for bright field, dark field or backlighting
- 38 x 35 mm Housing Requires Minimal Mounting Space
- Continuous duty or strobe
- Current controlled for output consistency and longevity
Benefits of the S-20 Series
- High Intensity: Designed as a cost-effective bright or dark field lighting source for small field of view applications, the S-20's single High FLUX LED with collimating lens efficiently concentrates light energy to deliver maximum intensity from a minimal package.
- Easy to integrate: Takes up minimal machine space with its' 38 x 35 mm (1.5 x 1.4 in. OD x H) housing. Two threaded mounting holes on back of housing for secure, vibration-resistant mounting.
- Low power consumption: Current requirement ranges from a low 350mA (red 1 Watt LED model) to a maximum of 700mA (white 3 Watt LED model).
- Use color to create contrast: Choice of wavelengths 625nm (red), 530nm (green), 470nm (blue) and 5500 Kelvin (white) for applications where color enhances contrast (see our "Color for Contrast" application note).
- Stable light output for consistent application performance: S-20 models are designed for use with constant current power sources which provide stable light intensity. When light output stays at a consistent level over time, application up-time increases and false errors decrease.
- Long life: Current controlled S-20 models are conservatively rated for 50k + hour (5.7 year!) life expectancies to minimize system maintenance requirements.
About Current Control
Current control is an ideal power regulation method for LED-based lighting. By design, LEDs are current driven devices whose manufacturers recommend current controlled power sources. With current control:
- Variations in LED output are minimized
- The highest possible LED life expectancy is obtained
- LED response to current adjustment is linear, allowing precise control of light output
